Our Water

Here in Northern Michigan we are blessed to have an abundance of fresh clean water. While we have fewer factories, population and pollution, we still must be aware of our water quality.

Because surface water picks up even small traces of contaminants and carries them over distances to other water sources as well as rain runoff and leaking from underground tanks we shouldn't disregard what is in our water.

Other factors affecting our water are those that appear naturally in the earth. These usually fall under a non-threatening group such as hardness, iron, manganese, tannins and sulfur. Due to many geological influences in Northern Michigan, water chemistry varies widely among well water users. While municipal water is available in large communities, most of our region is served by individual wells. In either case, the consumer has to make the choice to raise the quality of their water.
