Hard Water, Scale, Lime

Hardness, Scale, Lime. All of these are classified as “hard water”. This problem is the most common and widespread of all water issues. It is easily seen on our faucets, dishware, and in the shower as a white scale or powder residue. It is also present on our skin, clothing and hair. Its biggest impact is usually not seen and this is in our hot water using appliances. Virtually everything that uses water in the home is affected. Hardness amounts vary from region to region. Some people choose to live with the problem and end up using multiple chemical cleaners to solve the problem. The impact on the environment through chemicals and plastic bottles can’t be measured. This is a costly and temporary fix. A better option is an efficient water conditioning system to treat all of the problem areas in the home. This eliminates harsh cleaners and protects your water heater and appliances. They will operate more efficiently on softened water and you will use less soaps and detergents. Your clothes, skin and hair will benefit as well. A water softener is one of only 2 appliances in the home that will pay for itself, and save you money! If you are concerned about using salt there are some things to consider. Our modern system uses much less salt than older systems. We also adjust them for your water chemistry and as the engineering team designed them. We don’t try to sell you salt! There is a no-salt option also available. You can use potassium in place of salt if you would like. If you are concerned about drinking softened water there still is other options. If possible we can install an untreated tap at your kitchen sink for drinking and cooking. The other and better option is a reverse osmosis system that removes all salts and other contaminants from the water.
